My name is Shrey Kadam and I am an Indian chef from Slovakia.
I was born in the state of Maharashtra, near the city of Mumbai. I inherited my love of cooking from my mom, who is a great cook (you know, we all have the best mom). Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by the richness and complexity of Indian cuisine. Food for Indians is not only about hunger but also about health. The first way we care for and heal our bodies is through diet.
Everywhere I went, I always liked to cook for those around me. I did it in Switzerland, where I studied hotel management at university, and in London, where I then worked in a hotel chain.
Nothing is a coincidence, but I did not expect that fate would take me to Slovakia.
When I came to Košice in 2011, I continued to look for good Indian food and tried to bring it to my friends. When I got the opportunity to “borrow” the kitchen, I cooked, at that time, the only Indian meal in a restaurant in Košice.
Since 2018, I have been very happy with the MumBhai Express food truck, which was the first step in my dream of bringing authentic, high-quality, homemade Indian cuisine to Slovakia.
I took it a step further with great joy in 2022, when I managed to open the MumBhai Central restaurant with my family, which I am very proud of.
When cooking, I do not compromise on the quality or quantity of ingredients. I do not use artificial colors or flavors. My dishes must be full of aroma, rich in taste and should caress all the senses. The only way I know to do that is to not save.
In 2024, I published a cookbook, the first of its kind from a Slovak publisher. I am very happy that I can try to show you that Indian cuisine is rich, healthy and delicious, and that it can be easy to cook at home.
I will gladly pass this philosophy on to you at our cooking courses, workshops or bring it to your company. Check out my services and we’ll definitely come up with something creative together!
